MEET

NICK

I'm blessed with a great family and support system—I'm fortunate in a lot of ways that many others are not. I'm mindful on a daily basis that while I have earned much of what I've accomplished in life—having great role models and parents, growing up in a financially stable home, and having great friends/family are things that I simply lucked into. My story's not unique. In fact, it could be considered rather boring. But, it's a story of living every day to make life better for those around me, it's about lending a hand to those in need, and realizing that to who much is given, much is indeed expected.

Born in Murray, KY, I moved to Henderson at the age of one when my mom began working at Bristol-Myers Squibb in Evansville, IN—I have called Henderson my hometown ever since. I grew up in the Henderson community, attended First United Methodist Church, played on a local traveling soccer team, and graduated from Henderson County High School. I am who I am because of the people and experiences I have encountered along the way—many of which have occurred right here in Henderson.

In the Fall of 2006, I embarked on an undergraduate journey at the University of Kentucky, joined by many great childhood friends. Throughout my time at the University of Kentucky I had the opportunity to be active on campus by serving on the Student Government Board of Elections and as a University of Kentucky 101 Peer Instructor. I also served for three years as a mentor in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bluegrass program. Through hard work and good fortune I was able to graduate magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Communications and a minor in Political Science.

After graduating from the University of Kentucky, I stayed in-state for law school by attending the University of Louisville Brandies School of Law. During law school I served in leadership roles as a Client Counseling Competition Facilitator for the Moot Court Board and as a Senior Notes Editor for the University of Louisville Law Review, Vol. 52. During my third year of law school I was able to be a student attorney for the University of Louisville Entrepreneurship Clinic where we assisted second-year MBA students in forming their businesses and navigating the ongoing challenges that all start-ups face. It was this experience that gave me a new appreciation for the start-up community and made me realize just how vital they are for any community, regardless of size.

Since returning to Henderson in the Fall of 2015, I have been very active in our local community. I have been blessed to be a part of a number of great organizations that do tremendous work in our community. I am the former Board Chairman for the United Way of Henderson (2020-2023), Former Board President for the Habitat for Humanity of Henderson, KY (2021-2023), and currently the Foundation Chair for the Rotary Club of Henderson, KY. Formerly I also served as a Board Member for the Henderson County Family YMCA and the Henderson Area Arts Alliance. Being a member of these organizations has shown me the immense potential of Henderson, but unfortunately has also brought to light many struggles our community faces on a daily basis. These organizations have given me a purpose and it's exciting to know that I am playing, at least, a small part in bettering the lives of those in our community.

As a licensed attorney, I am guided by the principal of looking out for the best interest of those I work with and serve on a daily basis. I am the Associate Trust Legal Counsel and Wealth Specialty Asset Manager at a nationally chartered bank headquartered in Evansville, IN. I am a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, Henderson Bar Association, Evansville Estate & Financial Planning Council, National Trust Real Estate Association, National Trust Closely-Held Business and I am a Certified Trust & Fiduciary Advisor (CTFA).

I am a proud husband and father of three girls, ages 12, 5 and 10 months, and a two-year-old son.

In January 2023, I was appointed as a City Commissioner to the Board of Commissioners for the City of Henderson. In November 2023 I won a special election to fill the remaining one-year term, ending in 2024. Currently, after a successful run in the 2024 election, I am serving a two-year term that ends in 2026. It has been a great honor to serve the citizens of the City of Henderson. But, our work is only beginning, and we have so far yet to improve.
